The M.U.S.C.L.E. Nintendo Game

Ah yes.. M.U.S.C.L.E. Tag Team match.  What can you say about this game?  Well.. I say it stunk!  Especially compared to other wrestling games that were made around the same time.  I much preferred Nintendo's Pro Wrestling, and spent endless hours with my buddies playing that game.

The graphics and music were lousy, and the game got real boring real quick  As you can see from the pics below, your wrestlers were super distorted with big heads, making them look kinda like the characters from South Park.  But.. given the incredible lameness of this game, it did have some redeeming qualities.  (At least for the average M.U.S.C.L.E. enthusiast)

There were a few features which broke the monotony of the stale game play such as electrified ropes, as well as the ice ring on higher levels.  There were also booster balls that the trainer would throw into the ring.  If obtained, you could then use a special move to finish off your opponent.

Another cool aspect of the game, was that it gave us several names of various M.U.S.C.L.E. characters.  Most American kids didn't know it at the time, but these names were loosely translated from their Japanese counterparts in the Kinnikuman toy line.
